Things to do in & around Chatel in summer
There is an almost endless list of things to do in Chatel during the summer months.
Chatel is a great place for just relaxing. There is a large open-air pool with bar, where you can lie in the sun and marvel at the spectacular scenery that surrounds you. Break up your day with a meal or a drink on the terrace of one of the many bars and restaurants in the village.
Chatel is also a good starting point for a wide variety of walks, ranging from gentle strolls to difficult scrambles. We can give you some advice about some of the best places to go. The Tourist Office also has a number of walking maps & books for sale.
If the idea of running off the top of a mountain appeals to you, then you might want to have a go at paragliding (parapente) We can arrange a variety of sessions for you - from tandem jumps or one-day tasters through to a full course leading to you gaining your pilot's license.
Chatel also has the unique "Fantasticable" experience - an incredible flight across the valley at Pre-la-Joux at speeds of up to 100 km/hour. There is nothing like it anywhere in the French or Swiss Alps - it really is like flying!
Just having fun
If all of the above isn't enough, you can also do: "Devil Kart" (a kind of downhill go-kart), bobsledding, rock climbing, horse riding, pony trekking, fishing, visits to local farms and visits to the cheese museum.
