Chatel Reviews

From: The Daily Telegraph

In October 2002, Peter Hardy, ski correspondent for the Daily Telegraph, wrote the following review of Chatel:

Chatel

Chatel is a delightful farming village in the Portes du Soleil near the top of the Morgins Pass which links France and Switzerland.

The village is the starting point for some of the best and most snowsure skiing in this giant circuit of a dozen resorts on both sides of the frontier. In all, 206 lifts serve a mighty 650km of piste. Lifts spread out from the village in two directions.

To ski the whole circuit takes a whole day, but it is perfectly possible to make a leisurely start from Chatel, explore Avoriaz in France and Les Crosets in Switzerland, and return to Chatel within three hours.

The skiing is particularly well geared to intermediates and advanced skiers and riders who want to put big mileage each day. Its six ski schools also cater for complete beginners on excellent nursery slopes in the village and at the higher station of Super-Chatel.
